PRĀṆA PRATIṢṬHĀNA
॥ दैव अनुग्रह - भैरव प्रतिष्ठा ॥
॥ दैव अनुग्रह - भैरव प्रतिष्ठा ॥
Prāṇa Pratiṣṭhāna is the sacred alchemical process of breathing life into a form. Through this ancient ritual, a Śiva Liṅga is transformed from a physical stone into a Cit-Śakti (Conscious Field) — a living portal to the heart of Bhairava. It is the bridge between the unmanifested Brahman and the living presence in your home.
For existing Liṅgas that feel stagnant, this renewal process resets the energetic core. It is ideally performed during Pradoṣa, Amāvāsyā, or Kālāṣṭamī. The process begins with a 24-hour water immersion (Jalādhivāsa) to clear prior impressions.
"From this moment onward, know that He now dwells within your home — not as a symbol, but as a living presence of Śiva-Bhairava Himself."
Treat Him with the same love, reverence, and care that you offer to your own self. Whatever is prepared — be it food, water, or any offering — let it first be dedicated to Him. When you serve Him, you are not merely offering food or flowers — you are offering your gratitude, your breath, and your being.
May Bhairava’s grace guide your steps and illuminate your path!

Hold water in your right palm and recite:
"Mama upātta samasta duritaksaya dvārā Śrī Parameśvara prītyartham Pañca ahorātra paryantam Śrī Śiva Liṅga Prāṇa Pratiṣṭhānam karisye."
(For the pleasure of Mahadeva, I perform this 5-day consecration to invoke life into this linga.)
Purpose: Purify yourself and the linga's material body to become a vessel for Śiva consciousness.
Perform 3 rounds of deep inhalation/exhalation. Mentally chant:
Om Apavitrah Pavitro Vā Sarvāvasthāṁ Gato'pi Vā
Yah Smaret Pundarīkākṣaṁ Sa Bahyābhyantaraḥ Śuciḥ Om Śuciḥ Om Śuciḥ.
Visualize your body and the linga filled with light from mūlādhāra to sahasrāra. Chant:
Sprinkle Ganga-jala on lingam and recite:
Om Aim Hrim Śrim Śivāya Namah | Āvāhaya āvāhaya Mahādeva Mahālinge Nivasāya Namah ‖
Visualize a radiant pillar of light emerging from the linga — endless above and below. Chant:
“Adiyanta rahitam jyotih lingarūpam
Mahēśvaram
Dhyāyēd devasya rūpēna sarvabhūtāntarātmanah.”
Purpose: To install mantra and subtle energy currents (nādi śakti) within the linga.
Touch the Liṅga in five directions while chanting:
Chant "Om Namah Śivāya" 108 times with deep awareness. Offer one bilva leaf with each repetition if possible.
Mentally inscribe bījas into the linga. Visualize the Chakra getting activated:
Ham (Śiva Tattva) | Sam (Śakti Tattva) | Śam (Jñāna) | Vam (Kriyā) | Yam (Icchā)
Om Namah Śivāya, Linge Prānam Pratisthāpayāmi.
Purpose: Invoke the living consciousness (prāṇa śakti) of Lord Śiva into the linga.
Inhale deeply chanting "So...", Exhale chanting "...Ham". 11 rounds to awaken your inner prāṇa.
Place your right hand over the linga (like a mudrā of blessing) and chant slowly:
Om Hrīm Śrīm Klīm Aim Om Śivāya Prānah Pratisthāpayāmi Svāhā ‖
Purpose: Honor the invoked deity through worship, adornment, and sustained mantra resonance.
Chant each line as you pour:
Apply sandal paste, decorate with bilva leaves, and light lamps around. Offer flowers chanting:
Om Puspāñjalim Samarpayāmi.
Chant "Om Namah Śivāya".
Optional: For Bhairava aspect — Om Hrim Batuka Bhairavāya Namah
Purpose: Seal the energy, express gratitude, and ensure the linga becomes a permanent spiritual field.
Offer ghee lamp with chanting:
Om Namo Rudrāya, Om Namo Bhavāya, Om Namo Sarvātmane Mahādeva Namah.
“Yatra Lingam Tatra Śivah, Yatra Śivah Tatra Śubham.”
Pray for peace, protection, and guidance.
Place both palms together before the Liṅga and say:
Om Anantāya Namah | Om Ānandāya Namah | Om Śivāya Namah ‖
Offer naivedya, perform simple ārati, and share prasāda among family.
(To be recited each time you end worship)
Ananta Kalyāna Gunātmakam Śivam
Śaśāṅka Kāntam Kamalāpatim Harim
Viśuddha Vigraham Acalam Nirāmayam
Namāmi Śambhum Śivam Īśam Īśvaram.
